Back in Studley again, it’s a home away from home for me. We were up here for a long weekend with the kids and dogs. Everyone had something to do so I grabbed my bag and headed into the park. It’s less then 10 minutes walk to get there. I was a little surprised how yellow the grass was but it’s been a hot summer so far so I should have realised it would be but I’m so used to how green the park normally is it did throw me a little.
I found my usual spot and started to get set up, this time I had decided to use the Band Hopper 20-40 rather the EFLW.
I found a free frequency, got myself spotted and started calling CQ. I got my first contact Gordon MM3GQT almost straight away, then nothing for 10 minutes. Then the next 5 contacts in 4 minutes. A few more came in slowly with one P2P with a 2fer park, so always good for the stats that.
With the SSB contacts drying up I decided to try digital modes as I was not in a rush to get home. I swapped from 40m to 20m, to try and get some EU contacts.
The first 3 were on FT8 and moved to FT4 and got a lot more with a good range of European countries.
I was getting a bit warm having been siting in the sun for nearly 2 hours so I decided to call it a day but before I did saw that Olivier F4NBH/p was doing a POTA so I called him and managed to work him. What great way to end and activation.
Turned off the radio and got packed up. I decided to walk the long way back which adds about 5 minutes on the walk but the views are great.
