This is the combined logs from the SOTA activation of SOTA G-NP/008 Great Whernside 2025-12-28 and SOTA G-NP/009 Buckden Pike 2025-12-28
It’s nice to get a free POTA activation from a SOTA or two, had I not been feeling so exhausted at the end or had not got 10 contacts across the 2 summits I might have been tempted to set up the mast and antenna and get the IC-705 up and running on HF but working from the comfort and warmth of the car and grab a few more contacts.
It had been a long day with some highs and lows but overall, it was positive day and what is life without some little challenges to push you outside your comfort zone.
Knowing what I know know would I still have done both summits? Maybe not carrying what I did but if I was just going to be carrying the Anytone handheld then yes, I would have done both. Lessons learned, I need to increase my fitness.
As they say in flying, any landing you can walk away from is a good one…
