POTA GB-2545 Sconce and Devon Park GB-5370 Devon Park Pastures Local Nature Reserve 2025/09/05

M7GAX and myself were at one end of the park and G5LSI at the other, i had brought the kite and it looked like it might be a good place to try it.

We got the kite out and set it up and then brought it back down to attach the antenna. It went back up but the wind was not brilliant and it kept really dropping.

Started trying to call CQ and then noticed the SWR was very high, hmm thats not good. I looked at the radio and noticed that it was not displaying the tuner was attached. Tried to enabled it in the menu’s but nothing happened, checked all the cables and still nothing. Nuts! This activation is not going happen.

Checked my bag and I had only packed one antenna which needed the tuner. Gave G5LSI a call and he said to come over to his spot and could use his radio to do the activation. We pulled the kite in and packed up the radio and headed over to G5LSI

G5LSI had a lovely spot next to a stream, he had already activated the parks so he handed over the mic to me.

I manged to get enough contacts to activate the park, hurah!
