The York Guards had been asked to support the Are you taking this piss 5k run at Rowntree Park and we were happy to help. M7FPX talked me in to joining the guards earlier this year. As Rowntree Park is a POAT we thought we could combine two hobbies with one stone.
The Guards event passed with out a hitch and once it had finished we got changed and went for coffee and cake before the activation.
Can really recommend the little café in Rowntree Park.
After the refreshments we went and picked up the radio pack and went to find a nice spot to activate.
Go the mast and antenna set up and started the activation. Conditions were bad and only made 2 SSB QSO’s with the rest on data, so not the best activation but it was nice sitting in the park and sunshine having a chat with M7FPX.
