M7GAX and I decided to take part in the RSGB 2m event. We thought we should find somewhere high and in a POTA, so agreed on Blakey Ridge in the North York Moors.
I got packed up and M&GAX got dropped of mine and we set off. Lovley drive up through the moors. There is a pub very close to where we wanted to be so we parked there. The plan being a bite to eat and pint after the activation.
We got our stations set up, plan being to do a mixture of 2m FM and SSB.
This was the first time I’ve worked 2m SSB so was quite excited.
It was quite breezy and that made it quite cold so after a few hours we packed up and called it quits. Took all the kit back to the car and went to the pub food and to discuss radio over a pint.
A grand day out.
