Leandro G5LSI, Gaz M7GAX, Will 2E0WTI and myself all met at Clay Bank car park to try and activate the 2 local SOTA summits SOTA G/WT-001 Urra Moor Round Hill and SOTA G/TW-002 Cringle Moor – Drake Howe. We also got enough to active POTA GB-0003 North York Moors National Park & GB-0706 Cleveland Way National Scenic Trail.

A hardy bunch.

It was a cold start with ice on the ground in the car park so we had a quick brew whilst waiting for G5LSI.

Quick group photo and then we all set off. G5LSI and M7GAX started with 2E0WTI and myself heading towards Drake Howe but their plan was to do a new POTA park and then head up to Round hill and then back to the car and drive to closer ascent point for Drake Howe.

As they started to get their rig set up we kept heading up the first hill to get to Drake Howe. More on that here

We had some VHF contact with G5LSI and M7GAX whilst on the first leg but on the second none, so resorted to WhatsApp. They had done both summits and were heading to the pub to get a table.

Once we were back at the car, the update as no food at the inn, or the next inn or the one after that!

This would not do, all 4 of us were tired and hungry so we arranged to meet in the nearby town of Stokesley to find something to eat.

They found a fish and chip shop were you could eat in so we parked up and joined them.

The fish and chips were great and we all had a good chat and laugh about the day’s adventures.

The days working stats.
