Fanced going to try and activate Rombalds Moor so asked my Dad if he fancied a walk. Yes was the answer and sorted out a date. Come the day the wether was pretty rubbish, low cloud and very damp but that did not stop us.
We parked at the Cow and Calf and set off walking in to the clouds. Radio Hound was released and off he ran. The start of the walk is steep and but after that there is only one or two small steep bits the rest is just a gentle climb.
With being in the clouds we saw very little. We stopped poems box for a quick cuppa and then carried in.

At this point it was compasss out and take a bearing and just yomp across the more until we got to the trig point which marks the summit.
I started to set the mast up but manged to snap the top section of it. Nuts. Was too much of an issue as managed to tie the antenna to the next section and get the antenna up.

Got the4 contacts to activate the summit quite quickly and then went QRT on HF. No point staying in the cold and damp. Gave a quick shout on 2m FM and got another contact. Always nice to have multiple bands.
We packed up and set off back in to the clouds, this time following a path. As we started to desend the clouds had started to lift and we got a nice view across the valley.

Had a great day out with my dad, dog and got some radio done.
