After getting quite damp on Gummers Howe we decided to go and have a walk around Fell Foot County Park as it was just at the bottom of the hill.

Radio dog had a great time running round like a loon and even jumping in Lake Windermere for a paddle

After a pleasant walk XLY said she would go and have a cup of tea in the cafe with the dog whilst I went back to the car to get the radio.

I found what looked like a nice bench right on the water front to work from but it turned out to be a kids size bench so could not get my legs under, oh well, struggle on.

I started to set up and attracted a small crowd who asked lots of questions and I hope I did not bore with my answers.

I showed them the radio working and they said goodbye and to enjoy my activation.

Started on 40m and got nothing at all which was a shame so moved to 20m and hunted S55G/p who was in a Park in Slovenia. Then found my own frequency and called CQ.

Got a nice mixture of countries including England which is always a nice surprise on 20m. 17 in the log

Then tried 10m and got 2 more qso’s and then time to pack up and go for a browse around Ambleside.

Looking up the lake towards Windermere

Fell Foot is a lovely park to work from with plenty of space, I would not want to work from the car park as it’s quite busy and a little small.
