POTA GB-1938 Cayton, Cornelian and South Bays Site of Significant Scientific Interest 2024/10/05

A day at the beach was calling, so XLY, radio dog and myself packed up and headed to Cayton Bay on the East Coast. Had a quick look at the map and if I set the radio up on the cliff top it would be a 2’fer with a costal path but I would rather be on the beach.

Radio dog more interested in balls then QSOs!

We headed down the cliffs and radio dog got very excited about the beach and the tennis ball he saw I had put in my pocket. Once on the beach, the zoomies kicked in as he was left off the leash. After he had had a good run around we found a nice spot to set up. XLY went to find some hot drinks as I tried to put the mast and antenna up whilst dog ran around alike a loon!

CQ CQ CQ

With the radio set up and spot on http://pota.app it did not take me long to get the 10 QSO’s to activate and 2 extra. In fact was done in 10 mins! This meant I could try and get the kite up. The kite did not go up 🙁 The wind was just too swirly to hold the kite up so no luck there. So I packed up and we had a nice walk on the beach before heading to Scarborough for fish and chips for lunch.
