David was one of my best friends dad, had been to many parties with him and even had Christmas day with him once too, so it was very sad when he died. He lived up in Yorkshire so he could be near his daughter and her family, but he had said he wanted to be buried with he late wife who was buried in the Black Country. So I booked the day of work and packed a suit and the radio and drove down to Birmingham.
My plan was to go and do a POTA and then met the family at the crematorium. I found a 2fr at a RSPB site and got set up. I was very aware of the time and knew I could not be late so I mainly stuck to hunting on FT8 and FT4 and got enough to activate the park.
I got packed up and went in to the visitors centre and got changed into my suit and head off to the funeral. It was a good turn out and nice way to celebrate his life.
