M7GAX, G5LSI and I decided to have a field day and we found out in the correct location at Filey Brigg it’s a 4fr!
I set off very early and got a parking space right at the top of the car park. As it was raining a lot I set up the mag-mount and a vertical, attached the IC-705 and started with some FT8. Got a few in the log.
M7GAX and G5LSI turned up and rain started to let off and we got a beautiful rainbow.

I had set of before breakfast and brought a Trangia to make some bacon butties there. Whilst G5LSI and M7GAX worked the radios I made some food and brews.
We all got plenty of contacts and so decided to try my new toy, a kite to lift the antenna. I got the kite from Sotabeams and hadn’t used it yet.
M7GAX helped me get the kite set up and into the air, it went up like a rocket! But now we had to get it back down to attach the antenna.

With the kite down and the antenna connected we launched the kite again and I started calling CQ, and almost instantly got a reply from a US station! After the QSO I jumped up and did my gold dance (see The detectorists for more info on gold dances). After the initial excitement I then made a lot more contact with the kite antenna. I was so happy it worked.
